At Little Pukeko’s Pre-School we are inspired by the RIE/Pikler philosophy. We foster trusting and respectful relationships where caregiving is consistent, responsive and viewed as a learning opportunity.
We aspire for our tamariki to develop naturally, in their own time, through freedom of movement. We aim to provide a home-like, safe and secure environment where tamariki have access to the outdoors all year round.
We promote learning through uninterrupted play where tamariki are provided with opportunities for individual exploration, as well as engagement with peers, in experiences that reflect current interests and extend learning.
We strive to foster whanaungatanga and aroha with all who enter our whare. We are inclusive of and celebrate all cultures, languages and identities. We promote respectful, reciprocal relationships and open, honest communication with whānau.
We value connections with our wider community, where we take the opportunity to explore our local area and foster a connectedness with Papatūānuku.
Testimonials-
Our daughter has been at Little Pukeko's since she was 6 months old (now 3). She, and we, love the staff and atmosphere at LPP. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The kids get a chance to take risks in a safe way, explore in new ways, and learn as they go. I don't want my daughter to ever leave!

Little Pukeko's Pre-School has been amazing from the get go. From our first day everyone was welcoming, friendly, and reassuring! The facilities are outstanding, and such a good range of activities available every day. I love getting updates, stories and pictures online, I always feel involved in the learning journey. The best bit is Freddie never wants to come home!
